UK (Lifescape Project)

Adam is a UK qualified lawyer with expertise in developing legal and financial mechanisms to enable rewilding projects, as well as leading species reintroduction projects, carbon restoration projects and various legal initiatives. In his role as CEO of nature restoration charity The Lifescape Project, Adam oversees a multidisciplinary and global team of ecologists, lawyers, economists and social scientists who plan and deliver complex nature restoration projects. Adam is a member of the IUCN’s Rewilding Thematic Group and co-author of numerous articles on rewilding published in academic journals. He has also advises multiple NGOs working in the field of wildlife conservation and rewilding. When not working to expand the Lifescape Project’s charitable impact, Adam spends his time developing Bioccredito’s work, as well as getting himself into wild landscapes at every opportunity. 

As a Director of Biocredito, Adam spends his time developing its pilot projects, accessing his nature restoration network to identify the best placed collaborators to make Biocredito’s vision a reality, and supporting with legal and governance matters. 

Edward Cutler

UK & ITALY (Tuscany Environment Foundation, EIIS)

Director

Ed was born, raised and schooled in Britain but developed a passion for Italy at a young age which grew into a full-blown love affair through art history and jobs in Venice and Rome, then marriage to a Roman before moving permanently to the country in 2009. From 2014 he worked in environmental technologies and also became an organic farmer in southern Tuscany, where he continues to produce extra virgin olive oil. He set up the Tuscany Environment Foundation in 2020 and since its inception has given out over €100,000 in grants to the best local environmental initiatives in the area.

Since 2020 Ed has also written and developed a book, film and tv series that chronicles Italy’s biodiversity as well as its entire natural history, giving him a very broad knowledge of Italy’s varied landscapes, the country’s geology as well as its astonishing biodiversity. Together with William, he is course director of the Biodiversity & Business sustainability course at the European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability. Ed brings with him years of experience working in Italy in both private and public realms, an undying passion for nature and a constant curiosity for new technologies and initiatives that help shift us towards better, more respectful behaviour as custodians of the planet. He is based between Rome and Tuscany and has duel citizenship. 

William Pratesi Urquhart

Director

An experienced international programme coordinator, project manager and fund-raiser with over 30 years’ experience in developing and managing conservation, nature and international development projects throughout Europe and Africa for, amongst others, the European Commission (DGXI), WWF International, WWF East Africa Programme, WWF Mediterranean Programme, and WSUP (Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor). 

He has worked with financial institutions such as Crossover Capital (eg ESG and developing a 200MW wind licence in Turkey) and the Velocity-group (identifying potential green investments for SEIS and EIS funds). He is an experienced investor, advisor and board member of start-ups in the green space and he is co-course Director for “Biodiversity and Business Sustainability” for the European Institute for Innovation for Sustainability (Rome, Italy).

He is passionate about rewilding and coordinated the LCIE (Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe) and launched the LHIE (Large Herbivore Initiative for Europe) the precursor to Rewilding Europe. He is also owner and manager of Craigston Castle Estate (farming, forestry and tourism).
